Business consulting services
Our team of partners and associates is available to help you evaluate your business
processes and provide recommendations and guidelines for implementing best practices
as they relate to any phase of your EPC projects. OnTrack’s Associates and consulting
partners are seasoned professional engineers. Most are also subject matter experts
with decades of capital project experience for large owners and EPC firms, who are
able to provide business process review and recommendations for best practices over
all phases of an EPC project including:
Supply chain management.
Our procurement offering starts with request for bid, bid evaluation, and awarding
of contracts or POs, to inspection, expediting, material receiving and transferring
to contractors, invoice processing and approval and payment of bills from a trust
account. In addition to our international procurement expertise, our clients gain

and reporting features.
Overall Project Controls
The backbone of successful project execution is to use sound project controls tools
and to have experienced managers in charge. Through our partnerships and network
of associates we provide controls managers who have successfully completed billions
of dollars in projects with capital costs spanning industries ranging from mining,
heavy civil, chemical, petrochemical and pipelines to food processing. The use of
OnTrack Engineering's integrated tools and procedures provides our clients with
substantial savings in both man-hours and costs and helps keep their projects on
schedule and within budget. Our involvement in a project ranges from full execution
using OnTrack Project Manager as the core tool and by assigning our personnel for
the project duration to only being directly involved for the initial implementation
and the training thus enabling clients' own personnel to assume command.
Estimating
As the start of project controls, estimating defines the project scope and sets
the baseline for both cost and schedule. Using OnTrack Engineering's proprietary
tools and our own proven extensive database, we provide intelligent estimating.
Using our
proprietary estimating program, uses the same format for both conceptual
and lump sum bid estimates with the difference being that in the lump sum estimate
the conceptually derived quantities are replaced by the actual takeoffs and default
prices by quotations. For specific applications we use Icarus or winRACE or other
commercially available tools.
Risk Management
Using in house tools or those requested by our clients, OnTrack Engineering provides
risk assessment reviews for our clients making sure we determine the appropriate
contingency for each project.
Planning
Although existing CPM technology and tools are useful for the initial schedule for
any project, these need to be supplemented when it comes to project execution. Existing
products do not automatically expand activities to reflect partial activities or
deliveries. Neither do these products integrate with other reporting vehicles such
as material receiving or contract progress to automatically perform the updating.
It is obvious that reporting on engineering progress which involves hundreds of
parallel and fuzzily related activities is quite impractical using these tools.
With OnTrack Project Manager's planning module these problems have been remedied.
In this module we have taken the position that, when preparing the master schedule,
more emphasis should be given to resources and earned progress reporting than to
the number of activities. The details of calculation are taken care of by this project
execution software. And OnTrack provides an experienced specialist in every sector
of the industry to oversee the planning.
Progress Monitoring
For progress monitoring of engineering and construction a proprietary package called
KeepTrack is utilized. This package provides earned values by taking into consideration
actual quantities or intermediate weighted milestones for engineering activities,
productivity, and resources necessary to expand until the planned project completion
date. With this methodology, OnTrack Engineering can boast that we have never missed
a schedule as we carefully monitor these "facts" and therefore continuously recommend
appropriate corrective actions as required.
